Coin Rounding Update for Cash Payments

Attention Members:

Beginning Monday, March 9, 2026, Craighead Electric Cooperative will begin rounding cash payments up to the next whole dollar. Any extra change from the rounded amount will be credited directly to the member’s account, ensuring no member pays more than they owe Coin Guidelines[88].

This change applies only to cash payments. Members who prefer to pay with exact change may continue to do so. All other payment methods, including online payments, bank draft, and card payments, are not affected.

The decision to implement coin rounding was made in response to ongoing coin shortages and the operational challenges associated with handling and storing large quantities of loose change. By rounding cash payments and crediting the difference back to member accounts, we are able to streamline transactions while remaining fair and transparent.

Craighead Electric remains committed to treating all members equitably and ensuring billing practices are clear and accurate. Members with questions about this change are encouraged to contact our office for additional information.
