Craighead Electric Responds to Storm Damage, Restoration Efforts Underway

Jonesboro, AR. — Mar. 15, 2025 —

Craighead Electric Cooperative (CECC) crews are working diligently to restore power after severe storms
impacted the area, leaving approximately 2,700 meters without service at the height of the storm.

Currently, around 1,365 meters remain without power as restoration efforts continue.
The storm caused significant damage to CECC’s infrastructure, primarily affecting Greene, Lawrence,
Craighead, and Randolph counties. Following damage assessment protocols, personnel have reported
nearly 70 broken poles, with 43 requiring off-road equipment for replacement, and approximately 85 spans
of wire down across the system.

To expedite restoration efforts, CECC has mobilized a strong workforce, including mutual aid from Arkansas
Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AECI) and SEC. With the support of these organizations, more than 11 pieces of
off-road equipment have been deployed to make essential repairs.

Interim CEO Mel Coleman emphasized CECC’s commitment to its members and the community:
“The impact the storms had on our region was unprecedented. Concern for Community is one of our seven
cooperative principles. Today and every day, CECC is focusing on repairing our communities following the
devastation.”

We appreciate our members’ patience and understanding as our crews work as quickly and safely as
possible to restore power. Updates will continue to be provided as more information becomes available.
