With winter weather approaching, Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation (CECC) is preparing for the forecasted snowstorm expected to impact Northeast Arkansas beginning Jan. 9. As always, CECC’s top priority is the safety of our community and ensuring reliable service during this weather event.

“Leading up to this weather event, CECC personnel have reviewed our plan of action should we experience outages,” said Mel Coleman, interim CEO of CECC. “From Member Service Representatives to our linemen in the field, our team is prepared to deliver world-class service no matter the weather’s outcome.”

CECC encourages all members to prioritize safety and preparedness during this winter storm. While the cooperative will continue to monitor conditions and provide timely updates to the community, members are encouraged to take the following precautions:

How Members Can Prepare:

  • Stay Informed: Keep mobile devices charged. Use the SmartHub app or call 888- 771-7772 to report outages. Enroll in outage text notifications by texting CECC to 85700. Follow CECC’s social media pages for updates.
  • Report Issues: Use the SmartHub app or call the outage line if you experience a service interruption.
  • Be Ready: Prepare an emergency kit with essentials such as flashlights, batteries, water, non-perishable food, medications, and blankets.

Safety Tips:

  • Avoid Downed Power Lines: Assume all downed lines are live and report them immediately to 888-771-7772. Include detailed location information, such as addresses or nearby cross-streets.
  • Limit Travel: Stay off the roads unless necessary, as hazardous conditions may make travel dangerous.
  • Use Generators Safely: Ensure proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning when using generators or space heaters.

CECC remains committed to the safety of its members and will provide updates throughout the storm via its website and social media platforms.
