Electric Cooperative Members Win LED Light Kits
Approximately 900 local entries were received in the 10th Annual Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Energy Efficiency Makeover Contest. Ten lucky Craighead Electric Cooperative members were chosen in our first ever multi-winner contest.
Statewide, approximately 15,000 entries were received and 170 Arkansas electric cooperative members from the states’ 17 local electric distribution cooperatives were winners of LED light kits.
Winning members received 72 GE energy-efficient LED indoor light bulbs, recessed can-lights, outdoor flood lights and decorative candelabra bulbs which, collectively, would result in a 3,724-watt reduction for each home. The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas partnered with General Electric for the 2017 edition of the popular annual contest.
“We have completed whole home energy efficiency makeovers, 17 mini-makeovers, and a mobile home makeover during the past nine years, but this year’s response surpassed all other entry levels,” said Bret Curry, Manager of Residential Energy Marketing for the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas. “We hope the members will enjoy the reduction in energy usage and reduction of heat emission.”
“If all 12,240 of the LEDs replace incandescent bulbs, then an energy consumption reduction of approximately 633 kilowatts will be achieved,” Curry said.
